Give Yourself the Gift of Freedom

Blessings of the season to you! I hope that you are enjoying the beautiful lights and festivities with your family and friends. In some of my recent conversations with friends, I found it interesting to hear their stories of former Holiday Seasons. Do you ever reminisce about your past holidays?

I have listened as they share their memories; some recount happy times and others feel a sense of pain and hurt. What I found interesting is that some of these people are in the same family or community, and yet they’ve described memories about specific events that are quite different.

This has happened for me as well. When reminiscing with some of my family and friends about my memories, many have different stories and experiences about specific events even though we were there together.

Why is it that people have different memories about the same events?

I think that part of the reason could be that each experienced something different based on their history and expectations. At the time, they were looking through a lens of combined past experiences and had made a judgement about what the future event would be like. Some anticipated a positive outcome; others decided that it wouldn’t be a good experience for them.  Both received what they expected.  I find this fascinating and also liberating since it proves how powerful we are; we can receive what we expect. Our intensions can be made manifest.

In recalling memories at different stages of our lives, they can sometimes transform because we have accumulated more experiences and beliefs over time. For example, you may know someone who has happy memories of growing up in a beautiful home that was huge and wonderful to live in. When they return there 30 years later, it doesn't look as big or as beautiful as they remember and they recall how lonely and disappointed they felt while growing up. I know a high school football star who continues to proclaim 25 years after graduation that a car accident caused by someone else during the holiday break prevented him from having a good life. He didn't go on to college and justified his choice not to go since he wasn’t able to play football due to the accident. I’ve heard him say on more than one occasion, “If that accident didn’t happen, I’d have a happy life.” I met a woman who is a acclaimed professor. She said that she loved high school and that it set her up to be the success that she is today. Her friends and family recall a different story when they share that as a young teenager this woman would say repeatedly that she hated going to school and thought it was a waste of time. Our memories of past events can change over time.

Some people make a choice to move beyond past events and take advantage of the opportunities that their futures hold. Others choose to let hurtful memories control them, keeping them in bondage. They carry the weight of these painful memories for years and don’t notice opportunities to experience the freedom, prosperity and happiness that they should have.

Freedom is defined as “the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint.”  Painful memories prevent us from experiencing the freedom that is our right. In order to experience liberation, we have to make the conscious choice to do so first.

My prayer is that everyone makes the choice to live with freedom from past memories so that they can experience all that they desire, require, and more. If you would like to enjoy more freedom as your holiday gift to yourself, please read on.

  1. To experience freedom, recognize that you are valuable.

There is no one in the world like you. DNA and fingerprints are two pieces of proof that show that you are a unique creation. Why would a creative intelligence enable you to exist as the distinctive creation that you are? Because you are valuable, that’s why. There is a purpose for you being alive on this planet - even if you are not aware of it yet. To reinforce your value to yourself, set aside 20 - 30 minutes each morning to hold a meeting with yourself. During this meeting, spend time focusing on the life that you want in your future. Stop thinking and talking about the life of the past that you don't want. You are very valuable and powerful and you will attract into your life whatever you put your attention on.

  1. To experience freedom, clearly define what freedom means to you.

If you could wave a magic wand and live a life of freedom, what would it be like? What would you be doing? Where would you be? Who would you be with? What would you have? Get detailed with your descriptions about your free life that is healthy, happy, peaceful, joyful, prospered, etc. Spend time describing what you're experiencing in your free life, not how you will get there. Leave the how up to your divine and spiritual source that will guide you through intuition to get there.

This is about what you want, not about what you don't want. For example, the high school football star could create gratitude statements in his daily meeting to stimulate and enable his intuition and subconscious to point the way towards possibilities to make those statements true. e.g. “I’m so grateful that I am healthy and moving freely thought life while using my skills and talents in remarkable and satisfying ways. I’m happy to work with a company that I value and with co-workers who I appreciate.  I feel fully supported and appreciated by my company and customers who I value, and am prospered for my efforts receiving more than $100,000 per year in income from all sources. I’m so grateful that my family and I live in a beautiful home that is filled with love, warmth, and harmony.  I love my peaceful and fulfilling life of freedom!”

Take time to describe what freedom means for you in your daily meetings.

  1. To experience freedom, "give forth" anything negative to make room for your Good.

In my book, The Path to Wealth, I describe a daily “giving forth” or forgiveness practice as a means to remove anything that is taking up room within you that is not serving you. As you do this on a daily basis, you will begin to feel lighter, happier, and more at peace.  You will have a new sense of freedom as you make room to receive your desired goals.  Please know that this giving forth practice does not condone what's happened in the past, it's simply a means to make room within you to receive the free and wonderful life that you desire. It will help you to focus more on the free and wonderful life that you’re creating. I believe that you deserve to have a life of freedom and joy, but you need to make room within you to receive it.  Saying the forgiveness mantra each day will help to make the room that you need to receive.

I believe that you are a valuable and unique person and that you can live a free life filled with all that you desire. Take the time to give yourself that gift. You have proved how powerful you are and can now demonstrate that in your new happy, free, prosperous and healthy life.  You can learn more success principles in my book, The Path to Wealth; Seven Spiritual Steps for Financial Abundance. www.bizzultz.com/book
