Preparation Produces Results

Have you ever heard people say, “I’m saving for a rainy day”? Or, perhaps you have a friend who has said “I don’t want to throw away my ‘fat’ clothes because I may need them some day.” Or, maybe you’ve overheard someone at your company say, “If we think about the worst that could happen we can be in a better position to weather the storm.” Many people believe that statements like these help them to be better prepared in life. I disagree.
Statements like these prepare a person for things that they don’t want to experience. I’ve known people that have said that they were saving for a rainy day or creating an emergency fund and that’s exactly what they used their money for; an unexpected and unpleasant experience. They would feel really good about saving and then a “rainy day” or “emergency” would show up as an unexpected event to deplete their savings. What if they decided instead to save their money for a wonderful trip, a new car, or a financially free life in retirement?
You are a powerful person! You will attract people and situations into your life as a result of the words, thoughts and emotions that you use. You are always in a process of preparing, both consciously and unconsciously, for the life that you will live. Wouldn’t it be better to live a life that is filled with what you want?
