Keep moving through fear – don’t camp there.

During a recent interview on Coast to Coast AM, a caller asked about how to deal with fear. I answered that he should use his spoken words to keep focused on what he desired the outcome to be, instead of dwelling on the fear about a future that hasn’t happened yet.  I believe that we are incredibly powerful and wherever we direct our words, thoughts, and emotions will have an effect. We will increase the likelihood of whatever we’re focusing on manifesting in our lives.

On the morning following the interview, I was doing my daily spiritual practice as outlined in my books The Path to Wealth and The Gratitude Formula, and the following scriptures from the bible came to mind;

Psalm 23:4-6 King James Version (KJV)

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

To put this simply, we’re reminded to walk through, not camp in a place that’s scary. We’re to trust that an all-knowing power in the universe is always preparing a table, supplying the good things that we desire and that our cup runneth over so that we always have plenty. We’re to note that goodness should be ours all the days of our lives. I believe that this is your divine right!

As motivational speaker and author Dale Carnegie said, “If you want to conquer fear, don't sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy.” We’re to “get busy” by deliberately keeping our attention on the goodness that we name as ours and keep moving through all fearful situations. We’re not to pitch a tent and stay in a fearful place.

So how do we do that? Follow the simple steps below to move through fearful situations:

  1. Speak affirmations and cast the burden of fear throughout the day.

In any fearful situation, answer this question; “if this fearful situation or experience didn’t exist, what would my life be like and how would I feel?” Then, focus on those answers with gratitude as though they’ve already happened. Create some affirmations to carry around with you which you can recite throughout the day. Say them over and over every day to help you to return to a calm and peaceful state where your Spiritual Intuition can be helpful to you.

When I had been diagnosed with cancer, I wrote down several affirmations like “Only that which is true of God is true of me.  Therefore, God’s perfect health is mine now.” Or, “Every cell and function of my body now operates in the perfection with which it was designed. I now go free to be whole, healthy, and complete.”

If you’re still fearful after continuously repeating affirmations, cast the burden of fear on Spirit to gain more freedom. “I cast this burden of fear on the Spirit within and I go free to be healthy, happy, and at peace, detached from the tyranny of fear.” Repeat this process until you feel a sense of peace.

  1. Surround yourself with others who support you.

Sometimes, others who are not emotionally attached to your situation can know the truth for you much easier than you can know it for yourself. In my book The Gratitude Formula, I describe a supportive group that I belong to with 5 other women. We call this group a Sangha. Each month we meet and describe what’s been going on in our lives over the past month and what we’d like to experience over the next month. The collective attention of our group on each other’s goals has an incredible effect on their manifestation. There is tremendous power when we’re in agreement with others.

When one of my previous companies was suddenly sued by a Fortune 20 company, I was scared. I initially started to think of all of the “worst case scenarios” that could happen even though my company hadn’t done anything wrong. I described the situation to my Sangha and they asked me to share my desired outcome of the lawsuit being dissolved. For the next month, all of us stayed focused on each other’s desired outcomes for our good lives. The lawsuit was dropped a month later and all attorneys’ fees that I spent were restored to me. There is power in agreement! Find a group of like-minded people who can support you and who you can support. If you don’t currently have supportive friends and family, I encourage you to visit a new thought organization like Centers for Spiritual Living, Unity Church or Universal Foundation for Better Living to meet supportive new friends.

  1. Meet daily with your Source and reaffirm your desired outcomes.

As you meet daily with your Source which I call the CSO, you will create a stronger foundation to stand on. Should something fearful and unexpected pop up without warning, you won’t have to panic. You can return to a place of peace sooner and know that you only need to do your job – decide what you want the outcome to be with gratitude. Your CSO will then do its job which is to guide you toward your goals.

Each morning, write out your gratitude goal statements for 10 minutes. Speak them out loud for 5 minutes, and imagine the outcomes already completed for 5 minutes. As you stay focused on your desired outcomes first thing every morning, you will begin to notice more possible steps that you can take throughout the day that are in alignment with your goals. The key here is consistency.Remember – repetition reaps rewards.

A very wise and successful business person once told me that FEAR is simply False Evidence Appearing Real.  What tends to make our fears manifest or become real is our attention to them. Turn away from those false ideas and turn towards the truth as outcomes that you’d like to realize.  You are more powerful than you think and you can manifest your desires with the use of your words, thoughts, and emotions. May you be blessed, prospered, happy, and healthy now and always. For more information about me and my work, please visit www.maymccarthy.com
