Love is a Choice, Not a Feeling

During the month of February, we’re encouraged to show our love and appreciation for those that are close to us and shower them with affection and perhaps a few gifts as well.  No matter how you express your love for someone, remember that to love is a choice, not a feeling.

Many of us have heard people say that they “fell in love” with someone or “fell out of love” with another. And, while your relationship may change from being close as an intimate couple or friend, to not being in relationship at all, love has nothing to do with it.

Start 2017 with Good Financial Habits

I had an opportunity to be on the New Day Northwest Show here in Seattle earlier this month (http://www.king5.com/mb/entertainment/television/programs/new-day-northwest/start-2017-with-good-financial-habits/381965861) to talk about Good Financial Habits and I thought I’d share a few tips with you.

After the holidays, many of us review the previous year and make plans for a better New Year.  Issues around money and our financial position tend to be near the top of everybody’s list for improvement. There are some practical steps that you can take to enhance your finances for 2017 and I’m delighted to outline some of these for you.

First, decide what you want. Answer the following questions to help you to create your powerful goal statements:

  • What amount of money do I want to be financially free in 2017?
  • How will I feel having met my goal for improved finances?
  • What will my life be like with that financial freedom?
  • Who will I be with and where will we be?
  • What talents and skills will I be using?

Now create goal statements that you can use in your daily morning practice as described in my book, The Path to Wealth; Seven Spiritual Steps for Financial Abundance. e.g. “I am so grateful that I now have a minimum or more that $___ to use and enjoy, bless others with, and invest and increase as my CSO guides and directs me to do so. I’m delighted that I live financially free and that my family and I enjoy a sense of satisfaction as we easily and joyfully live within our means with all of our needs met in a beautiful home that allows us to feel happy and loved. I’m so grateful that I use my remarkable skills and talents in meaningful ways to help my company accomplish our mission and that I appreciate my coworkers, customers, and vendors and feel valued by all related to my work.  I love my peaceful and joyful life of financial freedom!”

Next, each morning write down your goal statements, read them out loud, and imagine seeing yourself in your financially free life. Throughout the day, expect and watch for possibilities and intuitive directions to take steps that will help you to achieve your goals.

Give Yourself the Gift of Freedom

Blessings of the season to you! I hope that you are enjoying the beautiful lights and festivities with your family and friends. In some of my recent conversations with friends, I found it interesting to hear their stories of former Holiday Seasons. Do you ever reminisce about your past holidays?

I have listened as they share their memories; some recount happy times and others feel a sense of pain and hurt. What I found interesting is that some of these people are in the same family or community, and yet they’ve described memories about specific events that are quite different.

This has happened for me as well. When reminiscing with some of my family and friends about my memories, many have different stories and experiences about specific events even though we were there together.

Why is it that people have different memories about the same events?

Giving Thanks with Happiness – Happy Thanksgiving!
By: May McCarthy

As we consider the upcoming celebration of Thanksgiving, we often think of families and friends gathering together over delicious meals. We eat, drink, and are merry as we wish each other Happy Thanksgiving.  This can also be a time to demonstrate valuable success principles in order to live happier, healthier, and more fulfilling lives. The following can help you to remember the benefits of giving thanks with happiness during the holidays and throughout your life:

  1. Giving

Giving is the first step to receiving what you want sooner. As we give to others the symbols of what we want to receive, we welcome the same type of good into our lives. I’ve demonstrated the success principle; as I give what I want to receive, it returns to me in even greater quantities. You can too!

Making New Mind Grooves to Attract Success!
By: May McCarthy

Scientists are discovering that the thoughts and beliefs we continually repeat to ourselves create neural pathways like deep grooves in our brains. These “mind grooves” affect the way we see and experience the world. Unfortunately, many of us believe that our potential for success is limited and generally think that we can’t achieve something that is unfamiliar to us.  Henry Ford said, “If you think you can or you think you can’t, either way you are correct.” To enable us to achieve what we desire, we can create new “mind grooves” by using positive, self-affirming words, thoughts, and emotions. These will enable us to notice more opportunities for success in seemingly miraculous ways.

A miracle is defined as “an extraordinary event that manifests with divine intervention in human affairs” or, “an extremely outstanding or unusual event.”

Creating a World that Works for Everyone!
By: May McCarthy

I was recently part of a discussion panel and the topic was abundance.  During the conversation, the panel was asked what we could do to help people to achieve abundance when so much of the world is experiencing poverty and poor living conditions. You’re welcome to hear how our panel responded by listening to the discussion on https://vimeo.com/182648960. This recording will coincide with the Fall Summer Book Sale that begins on September 19th at www.superbooksale.com.  Check out the sale for 21 ebooks at 99 cents each!

Remove Conflicts to Receive More Good
By: May McCarthy

Can you think of a person, company, or situation that you have a problem with? Perhaps you have an issue with a family member or friend that has caused some friction in your relationship. Or, maybe you feel that a company has treated you unfairly.  Many people that I meet have at least one conflict that they are willing to tell me about and they have spent valuable time and energy trying to figure out ways to resolve the conflict. They often look at resolution in terms of a “win or lose” situation. If one party wins and gets what they want, the other party has to lose. I don’t believe that’s the way that conflicts have to be resolved.  Albert Einstein said, “In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity.”

What if a conflict simply became an opportunity for a resolution that allows for everyone to receive something good?  Following is an excerpt from my book, The Path to Wealth, which outlines one strategy for conflict resolution so that all involved benefit. More importantly, this method enables you to feel more peace as you stay focused on the higher and greater good that you want to experience in your life. I hope that you’ll considering trying this technique the next time that you experience a personal or professional conflict.

Preparation Produces Results
By: May McCarthy

Have you ever heard people say, “I’m saving for a rainy day”? Or, perhaps you have a friend who has said “I don’t want to throw away my ‘fat’ clothes because I may need them some day.” Or, maybe you’ve overheard someone at your company say, “If we think about the worst that could happen we can be in a better position to weather the storm.”  Many people believe that statements like these help them to be better prepared in life.  I disagree.

Statements like these prepare a person for things that they don’t want to experience.  I’ve known people that have said that they were saving for a rainy day or creating an emergency fund and that’s exactly what they used their money for; an unexpected and unpleasant experience.  They would feel really good about saving and then a “rainy day” or “emergency” would show up as an unexpected event to deplete their savings. What if they decided instead to save their money for a wonderful trip, a new car, or a financially free life in retirement?

You are a powerful person! You will attract people and situations into your life as a result of the words, thoughts and emotions that you use.  You are always in a process of preparing, both consciously and unconsciously, for the life that you will live. Wouldn’t it be better to live a life that is filled with what you want?
